Pierce FCCLA Chapter Attends FLW

by Morgan Crist

The Pierce High FCCLA officers attended the Fall Leadership Workshop on Wednesday, September 13, at Kearney to learn about leadership.

The FCCLA officers--Sydney Erickson, Sydney Slater, Liz Harris, Mason Sindelar, Emilia Goetsche, and Alexis Schnoor--traveled to Kearney to attend the workshop, which is a time for FCCLA advisors and officers or members to get together and better understand all the opportunities in it and have an outlook of what the 2017-18 year holds. Individual mini-sessions were held to discuss the various aspects of FCCLA.

The first mini-session discussed putting families first, career connections, a program called FACTS (Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety), and a program called STOP the Violence.

The second session consisted of topics such as financial fitness, Power of One, student body, and STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) and other competitive FCCLA events.

The third session contained the same topics as the first, while the fourth talked of the same discussions as the second session.

The FCCLA sponsor, Angie Broderson, said her favorite part of the workshop was “spending time with the officers and outlining our expectations for the year.”

The next FCCLA event will be their Cluster Meeting on Monday, September 25.
