Football Team Begins Season
by Montana Ruppert
The Pierce High football team had its first official practice on Monday, August 7.
Preparations for this upcoming football season started early this summer with weight lifting and many practices.
This year's football team is returning about 35 lettermen from last season. Head coach Mark Brahmer and his team have set many goals for their 2017 season. According to Brahmer, they want to be the hardest-practicing team in class C1 who are going to try their hardest to have a winning season, qualify for playoffs, be district champions, and hopefully be state champions.
Coach Brahmer is looking forward to this season mainly because they have the opportunity to turn things around from last season.
Coach says he is very excited for his lower-level teams this season because he feels they are going to do good things this year, as the freshman and JV teams have many players with great amount of talent. He also has high hopes for this year’s varsity team because of their many players that have great amount of talent.
The team will be playing in its annual Blue-White scrimmage this Friday, August 18, at 6:30 p.m. Their first regular-season game will be in Albion against Boone Central on Friday, August 25.
