Lady Jays Swing Into Season
by Maci Kroupa
Pierce’s Lady Jays softball team swung back into season on Monday, August 7, the beginning of fall practice.
The team kept busy preparing for their season by hitting the weight room and participating in Pierce High’s incentive program this summer. They attended a team camp, where they worked on basic fundamentals and fielding techniques. Assistant softball coach, Jeff Pasold, from Concordia University came to help improve the team's hitting and also to better the team’s batting averages. Many of the girls played summer softball, making the transition into fall ball much easier.
Head Coach Cady Reinke said, “We have a lot of returning starters back, and I am hoping that makes are teamwork one of our strongest assets.”
Returning letter winners for the season are Annie Johnson, Courtney Yawn, Brianna Aguilera, Kiley Bierman, Kaylee Dvorak, Addison Johnson, Rose Graham, Maggie Dale, Kaycie Druyor.
The Lady Jays’ first game will be on their home field on Thursday, August 17, against Wisner with the JV starting at 5:00.
