Bluejays Compete at District Track Meet

The district track team competed at Wayne for the B-4 district meet on Thursday, May 11. The girls’ team placed 7th with 39 points, and the boys team placed 4th with 58.75 points. The Bluejays are sending eight athletes to the state track meet.

Maggie Brahmer qualified for state in high jump and 100-meter hurdles, and Kaylee Dvorak qualified in both shot and disc. Boys who qualified were Braydan Waldner in high jump; Devon Roth in 110 hurdles the team of Collin Tinker, Walker Raabe, Kalvin Watts, and Carson Oestreich in the 4x100 relay; Tinker and Raabe in the 100; and Raabe in the 200.

For the girls’ side of the meet, Brahmer won high jump with a jump of 5’1”, and she also placed 2nd in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.77 and placed 5th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.17. In the 1600-meter run, Abbey Sedlacek placed 5th with a time of 5:56.01. Dvorak placed 3rd in shot put with a put of 36’7.5”, and she also placed 2nd in discus with a throw of 125’2”. Carly Sutherland placed 6th in discus with a throw of 118’03”. The 4x100-meter relay team of Maiya Baumann, Grace Spieker, Emily Simmons, and Brahmer placed 6th with a time of 54.16. The 4x400 meter relay team of Angelica Volquardsen, Spieker, Sedlacek, and Meredith Fasse got 6th place with a time of 4:37.05.

For the boys’ side of the meet, Raabe and Tinker placed 2nd and 3rd in the 100-meter dash with times of 11.34 and 11.37, respectively. Raabe also placed 3rd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.24. Cole Vogt placed 4th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.05, and Devan Roth placed 2nd in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.61, and he also placed 5th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.45. The 4x100 relay team of Kalvin Watts, Tinker, Carson Oestreich, and Raabe placed 1st with a time of 44.3. The 4x800 relay team of Vogt, Caleb Sullivan, Ian Fisher, and Braydan Waldner placed 4th with a time of 8:44.12. Waldner also placed 2nd in high jump with a jump of 6’3”, and Cody Yawn placed 5th in pole vault with a vault of 12’4”. Gavin Larson placed 6th in triple jump with a jump of 40’8”, and Dillon Lubischer placed 6th in discus with a throw of 136’6”.

“It was another great meet,” coach Tim Waldner said. “We had a lot of PR’s, and we had good quality efforts all day.”

The state track meet is going to be held on Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20, at Omaha Burke Stadium.
