Third and Fourth Learn About "Life on the Farm"
Third and fourth graders from Pierce Elementary traveled to Bloomfield on Friday, April 7th, to take part in “Life on the Farm”, an Ag Literacy Festival. The event was hosted by the UNL extension offices of Pierce, Antelope, and Knox counties.
Students moved from session to session inside the Harm and Tulleys Event Center hearing about advancements in farming technology, uses of corn and soybeans, and how to protect our land from pollutants. They learned interesting facts about farm animals as well as got to touch piglets, sheep and lambs, a dairy cow, beef cattle, and chickens.
Students were sent home on the school buses with agriculture activity booklets, a pencil, stickers, and a popcorn snack.
