National Honor Society Reads to Elementary Students
by Katrina Meier
Pierce’s National Honor Society traveled down to the Pierce Elementary school on Friday, March 10, in honor of National Dr. Seuss Day (March 2).
The club read to students from kindergarten to second grade. The high schoolers and elementary kids enjoyed reading from a variety of books, but especially those written by the late Dr. Seuss.
Once the NHS students went to a classroom, they were assigned one or more kids to read to. After finishing the first book, if the elementary children were able to read, they read a book for the high schoolers to listen to.
NHS sponsor Mr. Thomas Edmisten said, “It’s always a lot of fun to see the high school and elementary kids interact on the reading day. Everybody seems to have a lot of fun.”
