Pierce Wins Battle Creek Speech Meet

On Saturday, February 18, the Pierce speech team traveled to Battle Creek. The varsity team took home 1st place for the fifth week in a row, and junior varsity took home 4th place.

On the varsity side of speaking, Dylan Delka, Grace Spieker, Macie Timm, Abigal white and Chance White took 1st in their OID. Chance White also took 1st in Entertainment Speaking. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Junior Aguilar got 1st place. Breane Hoffman placed 2nd in Poetry. Junior Aguilar also received 2nd in Persuasive Speaking. Janae Arens and Macie Timm received 3rd in Duet Acting. In Informative Speaking, Emily Simmons took 3rd place. Breane Hoffman also received 4th place in Serious Prose. Ethen Kuether received 5th in Extemporaneous Speaking. Placing 5th in Humorous Prose was Bryce Bierman.

On the JV side of speaking, Caydan Retzlaff received 1st in Extemporaneous Speaking. Rose Graham also received 1st in Serious Prose. Emilia Goetsch spoke her way to 2nd place in Humorous Prose. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Alex McKeown received 3rd place. Alex McKeown also received 5th place in Serious Prose. Also placing 5th in OID were Samantha Hartman, Kiley Bierman, Elizabeth Harris and Sydney Slater.

Placing in individual sweepstakes were Chance White with 2nd, Junior Aguilar with 3rd, and Macie Timm with 5th.

The team’s next meet is the Mid-State conference meet on Saturday, February 25, at Battle Creek.
