FCCLA Holds Candy Gram Fundraiser

by Elizabeth Harris

On January 25, 2017, the Pierce FCCLA Chapter distributed over 2,400 candy grams that had been ordered during their annual fundraiser.

The FCCLA chapter members sold them to high school, elementary, and Zion students and staff, although anyone could buy them. Each FCCLA member was given a sales packet so they could sell candy grams around the schools or at home to their families. The FCCLA advertised these candy grams by putting out a display at the school, making posters and announcements at the high school, and sending letters home with the students from the public elementary and Zion. Candy grams were for sale from January 25 to February 3. After that, the FCCLA members started making the candy grams from February 6 to February 10.

In total, the FCCLA made around $1000 with their candy gram fundraiser, and these earnings will go toward member registration fees for competitions and conferences, as well as the group’s annual banquet.

Cheryl Timm, the Pierce FCCLA chapter advisor, said, “We were able to make all of this happen through the dedicated FCCLA members. We had a committee that worked really hard. This year was a very successful year; we had good participation from members, and we had a wide variety of orders.”
