Speech Wins Tournament at Wausa

The Pierce High’s speech team traveled to Wausa High School on Saturday, February 11, for the Wausa Speech Invite. The varsity team had 14 medalists and brought home 1st place as a team for the fourth straight meet, while JV had 7 medalists and brought home 3rd as a team.

For varsity speakers, Derek Ross and Bryce Bierman got 1st in Duet Acting; Shianna Oestreich placed 2nd in Persuasive Speaking; Breanne Hoffman placed 2nd in Serious Prose; the group of Oestreich, Hoffman, Emily Simmons, and Junior Aguilar placed 2nd in OID; Aguilar placed 3rd in Persuasive; Ross placed 3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking; Abi White placed 3rd in Informative; Katrina Meier placed 4th in Extemporaneous; Jordyn Bullock placed 4th in Entertainment Speaking; Hoffman placed 4th in Poetry; the duo of Janae Arens and Macie Timm placed 5th in Duet; the group of Dylan Delka, Grace Spieker, Macie Timm, Abi White and Chance White placed 5th in OID; Simmons placed 5th in Informative; and Ethen Kuether placed 6th in Extemporaneous.

For JV, Caydan Retzlaff placed 1st in both Extemporaneous and Persuasive, Halle Ross got 1st in Humorous Prose, Morgan Crist placed 2nd in Poetry, Alex McKeown placed 4th in Extemporaneous, Rose Graham placed 5th in Serious, and Emilia Goetsch placed 6th in Humorous.

The team will travel to Battle Creek on Saturday, February 18, for their final regular season meet.
