Beginning of School Information for Pierce Jr/Sr High
On Wednesday evening, August 5th and Thursday evening, August 6th, we will be conducting two meetings for ALL parents and ALL students of Pierce Jr.-Sr. High School. These meetings will be held in the high school gymnasium. At least one parent will need to attend 1 of the 2 meetings. The purpose of the meetings is two-fold:
1. All parents of student-athletes and the student-athletes will need to attend a head injury awareness presentation mandated by the Nebraska School Activities Association. We will also provide additional, helpful information to make your student-athlete’s experience a positive one. If your child is a fall athlete, this presentation will be followed by a short meeting with your child’s fall-season coach.
2. All parents of students will need to attend a required meeting explaining the handbook changes made for the upcoming school year. We will also provide the basic information needed to make the start of the school year go smoothly for your child and family. Lastly, we will distribute all student laptop computers on these two evenings. A laptop insurance payment of $25.00 per student will be due at the time of computer pick-up. This covers loss, theft, or accidental damage of your child’s laptop up to the $100.00 deductible payment. If your family opts to turn down the insurance coverage, any potential costs for damage, loss, or theft will be covered entirely by your family.

**Remember…parents are only required to attend one of the two meetings. If you are unable to attend either of the two meetings, please contact the high school office at 402-329-6217 or 402-329-4677. The presentations will be available to be viewed online through our school’s website (piercepublic.org) after August 6th. All parents of student-athletes will have to sign a document stating they have viewed the head-injury awareness presentation to allow your child to participate in an interscholastic competition between our school and any other school.
***A separate computer check-out time will be conducted on Monday, August 10th from 8:00 – 10:00 am for those students who are unable to attend the computer check-out sessions on the 5th and 6th.
