Pierce Competes in State One-Act

Pierce Competes in State One-Act
by Aidan Jones

Pierce High’s one-act cast, crew, and directors performed in the Johnny Carson Theater as they competed in state one-act on Friday, December 12.

Pierce’s play is a French comedia del arte play called “The Medicine Show” or “How to Succeed in Medicine Without Really Trying.” It is a play about a woodcutter who gets mistaken for a doctor and survives only though a chain of luck and coincidence.

Pierce placed fifth out of six teams in class B, bringing the 2014 performance season to an end.

It was an extremely tough competition with so many hard working people. Even though they didn’t win anything all of the members, cast and crew, are happy that they all did their best.

For the seniors, finishing the season at state was bittersweet, as it was the final time they would perform in the one-act for Pierce. Senior Kristin Arens said, “I think we preformed to the best of our abilities at state, but you never really know what’s going to happen there.”
