Pierce High Celebrates FCCLA Week

Pierce High Celebrates FCCLA Week
by London Sindelar

The Pierce FCCLA chapter had a weeklong celebration in honor of National FCCLA Week beginning Monday, February 10, and ending Friday, February 14. This year’s theme was “Exceeding Expectations.”
Throughout the week, the Pierce High students were able to participate in the following dress up days to help celebrate National FCCLA Week: Monday was Pajama Day, in which the students and teachers could dress up in their favorite pajamas and bring a pillow, blanket, or stuffed animal; Tuesday was No Jeans Day, meaning students were allowed to wear leggings or shorts, anything but jeans; Wednesday was Superhero Day, in which students could dress up like their favorite superhero; Thursday is Dress Up Day, in which everyone is able to dress up in their classiest outfits; and Friday is Red Out Day, in which the students will be encouraged to wear as much red as possible, as red is the national color of FCCLA. Winners were also announced everyday for the best dressed student in 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade.
Additionally, the FCCLA held the annual Candy Grams fundraiser around Valentine’s Day. This is a huge fundraiser for the Pierce FCCLA chapter, as they make over $2,000 each year.
During the week, FCCLA members were able to make all of their sold Candy Grams, along with the ones from Pierce Public Elementary and from Zion. The FCCLA chapter members will hand out their Candy Grams on Friday, February 14, during the lunch periods.
