Pierce High Holds Academic Celebration

Students and staff of Pierce Jr./Sr. High School celebrated the end of the school year with their annual academic awards presentation on Wednesday, May 16. Meier Selected as Poetry of Place Winner

Pierce High freshman Abigail Meier was honored as a winner of the Nebraska Writing Project’s Poetry of Place contest on Friday, May 4, at the State Capitol. Meier’s poem, “On the County Line,” was written for Mrs. Melissa Legate’s English 9 course, during which students studied and wrote place-based poetry. Boys Golf Competes at Districts

by Rose Graham   The boys’ golf team competed at districts on Monday, May 14, at Fairplay in Norfolk and qualified one golfer, Dysen Roth, for state. Individually, Dysen Roth finished 11th shooting an 80, Ethan Blecher finished 27th shooting an 89, Hunter Raabe finished 28th shooting an 89, Mason Sedlacek finished 39th shooting a 94, and Chaden Roth finished 40th shooting a 97. . . .

Spring Awards Banquet Held

Participants and coaches in spring activities were celebrated at the spring awards banquet on Wednesday, May 16, at Pierce High School. Boys’ golf coach Rick Adams presented awards to his team, including six letterwinners. Track head coach Tim Waldner also honored the letterwinners of the boys’ and girls’ track teams. 6th Grade Pizza Party

The elementary 6th grade class of 2018 is ending the school year on a fun note. The P.A.T.S. Organization honored the 6th graders with a celebratory pizza party. The original party agenda consisted of having a picnic outside, but with the rain in the forecast the party had to be moved indoors. The picnic idea quickly turned into a Hawaiian luau complete with decorations of tropical fish, parrots, palm trees, leis and a few grass . . .

BoxTop Contest At Elementary

The winners of the 2018 annual P.A.T.S. BoxTop contest were announced the end of March. The Pierce Elementary students have been clipping BoxTops during the past year for the contest. Each BoxTop is worth $0.10 when submitted to the BoxTop for Education program. P.A.T.S. has been participating in the BoxTop program since 2002. The students collected 8,903 box tops this year.
