Jays Golf in Districts, Two Qualify for State

by Elizabeth Harris   On Monday, May 15, the Pierce High varsity boys’ golf team competed at Hartington for district golf and finished in 5th with a 381. Both Dysen Roth and Kyle West qualified for the state meet West finished the day with an 87 to place 9th, and Roth finished with an 88 in 10th place. 3rd Graders Win Recycling Contest and Travel to Arbor Day Farm

Nucor and the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District (LENRD) have teamed up to create further awareness in the schools about the importance of recycling. They developed a contest a few years ago called, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Beyond.” Students in grades K-4 are invited to tell their story about how they recycle, in the form of a poster, video, radio spot, coloring book, song, news column, or any other . . .

Teammates Banquet Held in Pierce

The Pierce Teammates mentoring program hosted a recognition dinner and silent auction on Friday evening, May 12, at Pierce Jr.-Sr. High School. The purpose of the event was to recognize current and former mentors as well as current student Teammates. JH Tracksters Take On State

by Morgan Crist The Pierce junior high track team sent nine members in 12 events to the state track meet at Gothenburg on Saturday, May 13. There were two medalists of the nine members sent. Choir Holds Spring Concert

Bluejays Compete at District Track Meet

by Rhayna Waldner The district track team competed at Wayne for the B-4 district meet on Thursday, May 11. The girls’ team placed 7th with 39 points, and the boys team placed 4th with 58.75 points. The Bluejays are sending eight athletes to the state track meet. Maggie Brahmer qualified for state in high jump and 100-meter hurdles, and Kaylee Dvorak qualified in both shot and disc. Science Teacher and Students to Attend Eclipse “Watch Party”

by Samantha Hartman Les Piper, one of the science teachers at Pierce High, will be taking a group of PHS 8th graders to a “Watch Party” on August 21 to see an eclipse in Kearney. People in fourteen states including Nebraska will be able to see this eclipse, which will be a total solar eclipse.
