Alumni Volleyball and Basketball Tournament To Be Held

The Pierce High School Boys' Letterclub will sponsor the 24th Annual Men's Alumni Basketball Tournament on March 25, 26, 27, and the Girls’ Letterclub will sponsor the 19th Annual Alumni Volleyball Tournament on Saturday March 26.  The Classes of 1990 and 1992 are the defending basketball champions and the Classes of 1993, 1994, and 1974 are the defending volleyball champions.

Funds raised from the tournament help support scholarships and athletic improvements.

Basketball Tournament Info:

Team registration deadline is March 14.  Late entries will not be accepted.  All entries need to be at the school by March 15, allowing time to set brackets and first round pairings.  Teams will be randomly drawn, not seeded.

Each team will be guaranteed two games. Pairings and game times will be published in the Leader prior to the tournament.  Entry fee is $10.00 per person, payable before you play your first game.

Questions should be directed to Greg Warneke, 402-329-6217 during the school day, or 402-329-4877 in the evening.

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT RULES

1.  Teams of graduating classes from 2004 to 2010 must be made up of one class only.

2.  Teams of graduating classes from 1996 to 2003 can be made up of two (only two) years, but they do not have to be consecutive graduating classes.  For example: 1994 & 1995 could combine, but not 1994, 1995, and 1996.

3.  Graduating classes of 1995 and before can combine any way.

4.  All players in the same graduating class must play on the same team.  For example: All players from the 1992 graduating class must play on the same team.

5.  You did not have to have played basketball in high school to be eligible.

6.  Each team will be guaranteed two games in the tournament, but it is not double elimination.

Volleyball Tournament Info:

Team registration deadline is March 14.  Late entries will not be accepted.  All entries need to be at the school by March 14, allowing time to set brackets and first round pairings.  Teams will be randomly drawn, not seeded.  Each team will be guaranteed two games.  Pairings and game times will be published in the Pierce County Leader and on this website prior to the tournament.  Entry fee is $10.00 per person, payable before you play your first game.

1.  Team of graduating classes from 2000 to 2010 can be made up of one or two years, but they do not have to be consecutive graduating classes.  For example:  2001 and 2005 could combine.  Remember, the more individual classes we have the more fun we have, so try to comprise a team of only your class.

2.  Graduating classes of 1999 and before can combine any way, but no more than 4 classes.

3.  All players in the same graduating class must play on the same team.  For example:  all players from 1998 graduating class must play on the same team.

4.  Any alumnus can play in the tournament, even if she did not play volleyball in high school.

5.  This will be a double elimination tournament.

6.  High school rules will be followed.

*** Please keep in mind this is for fun and you should encourage as many classmates as possible to participate.  The more individual class teams we have instead of combining classes, the more successful the tournament will be.

Questions should be directed to Greg Warneke (basketball) or Shelly Adams (volleyball), 402-329-6217 during the school day, or 402-329-4877 (Greg), 402-379-1357 (Shelly) in the evening.
