A group of Pierce High FCCLA members competed in STAR on February 10 at Wayne.  STAR stands for Students Taking Action with Recognition.  STAR events are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.  Students can choose from 23 different categories for their projects.  All Pierce’s competitors achieved first places at district STAR in Wayne to qualify for State Leadership Conference in Lincoln in April. Winners at state advance to Nationals.

Top gold winners were as follows:  London Sindelar, junior division, category:  Reduce, Reuse and Recycle; Elyssa Leach, senior division, category: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle; Michaela Acklie, senior division, category: Interior Design; Swara Fadnis and Laurie Venteicher, senior division, category: Applied Technology.

Tad Fuchs received the highest score in Career Investigation and won a silver award.  He will be going to state as well for having the highest score in his category.

FCCLA is Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, a national organization. Pierce’s sponsor is Mrs. Cheryl Timm.
