Weber Takes Fourth Place in All-Class Journalism

by Tony Lauters

May 14, 2008

Josh Weber competed in the state journalism contest held in Lincoln on Monday, May 5 and earned an all-class fourth place finish in advertising and a medal.

Josh was competing with the top 12 students from all classes, A1, A2, B, C, and D. He was one of the few students to place who weren’t in class A. Josh had already won the class B contest for advertising earlier in the year and a place among the top 12 from all classes. The state all class final brings those top 12 together for a head-to-head contest.

Advertising competitors picked one of two ads to design. Josh chose one for a coffee shop that specialized in caramel corn. He put clip art into his ad, information about the business, and invented the slogan, “Fast, Fun, Affordable.” Josh said “I knew I had done well, but I was surprised to place.”
