Pre-Contest Concert Given

The Pierce High band and choir groups performed in a pre-contest concert Tuesday, April 15 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Pierce High gym. This was a concert and practice to help the musicians prepare for district music contest, which took place on Friday, April 18 at Norfolk Senior High School.
The concert choir and jazz choir started off the night with several songs. At 7:00 the concert band took the stage, followed by the percussion ensemble. Many solos, duets, trios, quartets, and quintets performed throughout the night. Greg Rethwisch, Cady Reinke, and Lacey Adams performed in a flute trio. Following the flute trio, Briana Adams entertained the crowd with a clarinet solo. Cortney Koepke, Sara Retzlaff, Britnee Turk, and Megan Albrecht played in their woodwind quartet.
Lee Krohn, Joe Fehringer, Kyle Rohrich, Josh Chavez, and Darin Lubke performed in a brass quintet. Colton Stepp, Brock Stonacek, and Nick Koeppe played in a trombone trio. Joe Fehringer performed a trumpet solo. Chelsea Atkins performed a trombone solo.
Brittany Spieker and Michaela Acklie performed a trumpet duet. The concert then ended with four soloists: Brittany Spieker on the trumpet, Emily Taylor on the marimba, Ashlyn Doerr on the tenor sax, and Carly Halsey on the alto sax.
The concert performed Tuesday night was open to the public. Mrs. Constance Jessen directed the choir, Mr. Michael Sindt directed the band, and Mrs. Celine Fehringer was the accompanist. The Pierce High band and choir groups look to finish strong in the district music contest.
