PHS Dramatists to Present All-School Play April 4 and 5

by Ashlyn Doerr

March 24, 2008

The All-School play, The Headless Horseman, will be presented at the downtown auditorium by the Pierce High drama department on Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5. The play is based on the classic Legend of Sleepy Hollow, about a teacher, Ichabod Crane, who comes to Sleepy Hollow, a town  full of eerie ghost legends.

Crane, portrayed by Jonathan Canaday, is warmly welcomed by Farmer Stuyvesant, played by Kyle Rohrich, and the whole town of Sleepy Hollow, except for the students, who detest school and everything that has to do with school.

The students aren’t the only ones who have a problem with Crane’s coming to town. Abraham Bones, Brom Bones for short, played by Andrew Halsey, is a strong and jealous man who wants to get rid of  Crane because he’s sure Crane is after “his” girl, Katrina.

On the other hand, Katrina, played by Maggie Echternacht, doesn’t want anything to do with Bones because he is too full of himself. She would rather be with an intelligent and charming man such as Crane.

After the women of Sleepy Hollow  tell Crane all of the town’s famous ghost stories, Crane doesn’t know if this is the town for him, especially if Bones keeps bullying him over Katrina.

Will Crane stay for Katrina, or will he give up everything, to Bones’ delight, and hit the road? Find out on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 at the performance of The Headless Horseman, under the direction of Danielle Goetsch, Ruth Jaeger, Kyle Rohrich, and Mikaela Ruppert.
