The boys’ track team started their preparation for the 2008 track season this past Monday, March 3. They worked out inside for the past week, due to weather.
A number of Pierce High athletes are out for track this year, and with a number of returning state qualifiers, the Bluejays have very high hopes for this coming season. Head coach Tom Martin said, “We could have a tremendous season; we are just looking for some of the athletes to step up and have an outstanding year.”
Returning state qualifiers are Kevin Paulsen in the 4 X 100 and 4 X 400, Chays Ronspies in the 4 X 400, Mack Baumann in the 4 X 100 and 4 X 400, Dylan Arens in the long jump, Aaron Eddy in the 4 X 100 and 100, Eric Koehlmoos in the 100, and Nick Koeppe in the 3200.
The Bluejays’ season will kick off on Monday, March 24 when they travel to Vermillion, South Dakota, to the University of South Dakota Dakota Dome for the Dan Lennon indoor meet, traditionally a tough individual meet for the best athletes in the region. The first home meet for the Bluejays is on Thursday, April 17.
