MRS. HELMER, Guidance Counselor
Everyone has been asked at some point “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Chances are, you’ve changed your mind many times over the years.
At school you’ll find many workers, such as your teacher and janitor. At the grocery store, the bank or your doctor’s office there are people working. The money they earn at their jobs goes towards paying for their home, the food they eat, college education, clothes, taxes, cars, movies, and many other things.
Why are you in school? If you said it’s to learn about the world around you, you’re right. If you said it’s to prepare you for a job when you graduate, you are also right. As you grow older, you will be learning more about yourself. You will make decisions about how much education fits your personal needs and the requirements for the kind of job you want.
The NCE six career clusters can help you learn about different jobs areas.
